I have been camping for over 65 years in everything from 2 part shelter halves to yurts to R Pods.  I have only had 1 item stolen from us.  It was a cheap($10-15) oil lamp type lantern taken while in a commercial campground. That was about 20 years ago.
Agree with others-secure what you can and go have fun and don't worry.  It's only"stuff" and most real campers already have it.  It's the best way to have ease of mind.

+2  We purchased the Proven lock about 5 years ago.  It isn't cheap ($ 219 back in 2016) but IMHO is about the best thing out there.  But as offgrid stated, "a determined thief " will get what he wants regardless of what you do to protect it.  Hmm, about a trained doberman? 

The majority of our camping is in boondocking situations and we have been blessed and fortunate in that we have never been vandalized in the 10 years of camping with our 177.

I just lock the hitch and lock up any loose high value items like my generator in the TV or trailer. Folding chairs, the Clam, and that kind of thing I just leave out.

I don’t really think boon docking is any more prone to casual thievery than camping in a full service campground is. I’ve had stuff taken in the latter but not the former. More people around equals more likelihood of one being dishonest. Remember that locks only keep honest people honest. If someone is determined to break in, a lock won't stop that from happening. Just be sure to use what locks you have and don't leave high-value items in plain sight. For example, I would not leave my solar panel out unless I had a good lock on it. Also, lock your hitch. All the locks on the trailer are useless if someone takes the whole thing. For me, the Hensley Cub hitch is unusual enough that I don't think it would be easy for someone to back up, hitch it up and tow it away.
