It is a Coleman CT187QB.  Yes, I know it is really a Thor/Dutchmen with the Coleman name.  Much like the Coleman popups are actually made by Fleetwood.

 

 

Dixie - always the "ham" - getting in the pictures.  It is 19'2" long and has an UVW (with all of the options) of 3018lbs.  About 650 more than my RP173 (about 2350, if memory serves).  A couple of nice touches are the light up front for hitching after dark, one over the drain for dumping after dark, and the pass thru storage is lighted.  It also has only one drain to hook the stinky slinky ( on my Pod, there were two and I had to switch the hose).  It also has an outside spray hose for those muddy hiking boots.  It has outside speakers, but I'll probably never use them.  At 7' wide, it is only about 1" wider than my truck on each side, so I have good visibility with the standard factory mirrors.  With dual axles on a short trailer, sway is not an issue at all - it pulls pretty good. 

 

More clues:

Double sink and the same 2 burner stove as the Pod, but comes with a cover.  Also has a lighted hood/exhaust fan.  In my 35+ years of camping, I don't remember ever cooking anything inside of any of my campers, however.

Storage over the dinette with built in speakers, below.  The AM/FM/CD/DVD/MP3 player is wired over to the TV.  It is 12v and is nice during bad weather to pop in a DVD and watch one of the "classics", such as "Smokey and the Bandit" (I REFUSE to pay more than $5 for a DVD).  Ya got yer ears on Snowman?!

Standard queen bed (60x80).  Half under which is storage (inside only) the other half is separated by a wall and is the outside pass thru storage.  Overhead storage is good for storing things, well, overhead.  The skylight really brightens things up inside; so much so that the camera's flash didn't flash, so it looks dark - but is not. For those of you who may be considering Techntrek's alternative air conditioner (other thread) and wondering what might be done with the hole in the roof left by the old A/C...think skylight!

 

I have a FT-847 and an FT-950 here in the shack.  I take the 847 camping.  A friend has both the Yaesu 897 and 857 that he uses for mobile/Field Day/etc.  He thought I should should test drive the 897 - "just in case I might want to buy one for the camper"

 

I worked the Texas QSO party a little this weekend (from the campsite) - between the usual camping stuff - had a good time.  A couple of JA's (Japan) and a PY (Brazil) were strong early this morning.  Hope to catch you on the air!  WA9DU

 

It is a Yaesu ATAS (Active Tuning Antenna System) "screwdriver" type antenna.  It is mounted on a 12' aluminum painting pole - which just happens to fit perfectly into my spare tire bracket.  (I did a a small bracket at the bottom to keep the pole from sliding all the way thru)  All is grounded to the chassis of the camper.

 

Speaking of antennas, mine is a little different from the Pod's ANOTHER CLUE!

 

 

This seems to be the typical sort of mpg that I have been getting.  I usually drive 65 +or- and am turning about 17-1800rpms in "tow mode".

I have an Icom 706MkIIG here in Costa Rica.  Since I have a metal roof, I use a vertical with noise cancellation between the radio and the antenna.  I have yet to obtain a Tico call sign so am use my US one.

First, the must haves...

The dry bath

 

The medicine cabinet is great for storing personal care items; like toothpaste, comb, razor, etc.  However, I rarely use this stuff.  But, with it in there, it may give people the impression that I may use it at some future point.  Notice the awning, in the mirror - complete with tacky lights.  I have a couple of sets of these - depending on just how tacky I choose to be.

 

The dinette, with a Ham radio (not included with the purchse of the camper).  This being my first outing with the unit, back in early April, I just ran the coax cable out the window.  Bonus points will be awarded if you can correctly identify the make, model of the radio and what frequency I am operating on

 

That's it for a couple of days.  It's time to put the thing to some more use at one of our State Parks.

However, judging by the picture, I suspect the "dry bath" may be something like a small wooden outbuilding (out of view of the camera).  How would I tow both?  How/where would I hook up the "stinky slinky"?  So, no, you haven't hit the bullseye yet.

 

Darn it!  It probably doesn't have a dry bath either.  But I'd likely be the only one in the campground with anything like it.

The words "Galileo" and futuristic did get me thinking of an old Star Trek episode called the "The Galileo Seven". 

Anyway, Spock, Scotty and a couple of others had taken the shuttle "Galileo" to a planet, became stranded and were being attacked by huge ape-like creatures!  (Sort of like my daily experiences at my place of employment)  Of course, one of the "red shirt" guys gets killed prior to the first commercial break - per standard Star Trek protocol.

I thought something like that would make a cool looking RV.  But, it turns out, some guy(s) beat me to the punch a while back! (and they did a pretty good job)

Now, if you want a bunch of "can I see it" sort of people gathering around your campsite, make yourself one of these!   (just don't wear a red shirt!)  This fellow made it out of an old class C motorhome - discarding all the stuff not needed (which seems to be everything but the chassis and motor)

Upon reflecting for a while, I decided that this whole "Galileo" thing was either going too expensive (first post) or too much work (this post).  So, what I bought does not even sound like the word "Galileo".   Stay tuned as the drama unfolds!

When considering my purchase of a new Travel trailer, many possibilites occured to me.  With now a 6700lb tow rating in my truck, I faced few limitations as to what I could acquire and tow safely.

 

 

This is the Galileo....sleek, futuristic and it has a cool interior too.  It has a dry bath and an awning, which were "must haves", for me.

 

After sobering up, the harsh reality of 30-35K hit home - I can't afford it!  So, no, this isn't my new travel trailer......something a bit more modest
