Author: Ozark paddler
Subject: 14287
Posted: 13 Dec 2020 at 10:31pm

Hello all. I just purchased a 2017 r-pod 178. I'm sure I will have lots of questions as I go along. I have reading most of the Forum and I'm impressed with everyone's knowledge and helpfulness.

I am looking forward to hitting the road this summer as soon as damn pandemic starts to ease up.

I have upgraded considerably from a very basic super ultra light all aluminum trailer that has served me very well for the past 10 years. As I have gotten older it became a little too confining and lacks all Creature Comforts except for air conditioning. Having a unit with tanks, showers, kitchen Etc will all be new for me.

I really was not looking for a new trailer but when I started researching rpods I came across one for sale in my city that seemed to be a very good deal. The seller said that he's only used it about 10 times what a total of about 3000 Miles traveled in it. It looks perfect outside and in. I would be interested in your opinion as to whether I got a good deal or not. I gave $13,800. I'm hoping this was a reasonable price.

A bit about me. I'm a retired park ranger who now makes his living through nature photography and presenting seminars on a wide variety of outdoor topics. Up until the pandemic I tried to travel 4 to 6 months a year.

I traveled out west late last summer and fall and I have to say it was a very stressful situation. I have traveled extensively through the West for over 35 years and I have never seen such crowding, rude Behavior, and challenges finding any place to camp. I was lucky to snag a spot in Grand Teton. One morning as I was leaving the campground at 5:30 in the morning a full hour before daylight there were in excess of 125 rigs lined up for well over five miles waiting for a campsite. I eventually cut the trip short because I was having difficulty dealing with the crowding and inability to find any place to stay, including many boondocking areas that I am well aware of. I'm hoping next year will be a lot less stressful.
