Yeah, i think 4wd does decrease mileage as it sits up higher and added weight.......they may even use different rear ends with the 4wd.  After reading the posts, I feel great getting 15-15 1/2 mpgwith the pod......and I do have 4wd.  I did notice a jump in mileage when I replaced the trailer tires with
Carlysles.  Tire dealer said that the original tires on the pod were more like car tires. 
Truck is a Ford 150, K&N FIPK, 4wd, 5.0L V-8

Yes, The bush plane museum, also a little further north is the Agawa Indian Pictographs, Canadian carver and Agawa crafts. Plus the view and shoreline of the north highway is breathtaking. I'm in for anything in the NE, including New Brunswick, ME, VT, NH, etc.
I still think that the Bay of Fundy is something everyone should see, especially Flower Pot Rocks.  If we are going to do a Canadian site we need to announce it in time for those that don't have passports to get theirs.  As always I would be willing to do a 'How to solar power your R-Pod" workshop/information session as I've been doing solar powered camping for at least 14 years.  Just my .02 worth.

We are located on the hub of the Great Lakes right on Lake Superior. There is a beautiful provincial park named pancake bay about 1 hr north of Sault Ste. Marie. This is also bordering the upper peninsula of northern Michigan.  They have a group camping area and beautiful sand beach. We are self employed and hard to get away. Anyways thought I'd mention it. For me a weekend would have to be before labour day up here. After that my weekends are busy working at Mountain Orchard (apples) till thanksgiving weekend (Oct 11 usually.) How about a Western Canada and an Eastern Canada one? I think we have enough Canadian r.pod owners to do that.  Campkins in Ontario has been selling quite a few of them.

So far our "in the wild" sightings down here have mainly been from Quebec.

Just wondering where we all are and where the first Canadian roundup should be? We are based in SE Connecticut and can drive up to Maine, and as far west as Algonquin. Anything further is ok too but we have a small tv

We're NE US but go up to visit family in the GTA yearly without the r.pod.  With the r.pod, we can realistically go as far west as Algonquin due to time and TV restrictions, but it will have to be something planned far in advance as it would most likely be a multi-week trip.

North shore would almost be half way across Canada but It is 40 hours of driving from me. I think if we are going to do Canadian Roundups they will have to be regional like they do south of the border. The Furthest I could drive would be southern Ontario that's 15 hours.

We're having a NorthEast roundup this year in PA. A bit far from BC, but Canadians are always invited  :)

We were originally planning an Ontario Roundup by the Thousand Islands but didn't get much response. :(

You can post the details of a roundup in this sub-forum, just include the dates at the top when you start a new topic.  It would probably be best to contact the owner of the campground (if private) to see if they can hold a block of a half-dozen sites that are together for you.  Might not be possible at a provincial park.

Our Colorado is 4x4. Try looking a the Colorado forum (http://coloradofans.com/). Some are getting lower MPG, but many are getting about the EPA average (21-23). If you have a lead foot or are doing a lot of stop and go driving, you will get less.
By the way, we have a 171 R-Pod and tow in third gear; on real steep hills, I might shift into 2nd. If you get 17 MPG in straight highway driving - without towing - there is something wrong.

WOW!! that is good mileage. A friend of mine has the same truck and we are both getting bad mileage. If I get 17 MPG I would be quite happy. I have a 4 wheel drive, I wonder if that would make a difference. Is yours 2 or 4 wheel drive? I am lucky if I get 400 km to a tank. We have a 2008 Chevy Colorado Z71 with factory tow package (same as GMC Canyon). We did a round trip between Connecticut and Michigan with many side trips along the way. We averaged 13.5 MPG compared to about 22 MPG without towing. I was surprised that we got 13.5 on this long trip. We keep all gas receipts and track mileage with both the trip odometer and GPS. I don't think this truck is a pig on gas.

Hi Craig,
My wife and I would love somethig like this, reminds us of the the old "van in" days. Have no idea how to go about starting this. Hopefully there will be some feedback from organizers of roundups in the States. I wouldn't mind travelling a distance if Forest River comes up with a spoiler for the Pod to increase our performance and gas mileage (LOL). I am towing with a 2009 GMC Canyon 3.7 and it is a pig on gas to start with.

Stopped in to check out the facility at 50 Points campground south of Hamilton on our first trip last w/e, ( stayed in Valens Conservation area..a great place for a roundup I think ), and saw an r pod, but there was no one there.  Didn't think to leave a note....Duhhhh!Embarrassed
50 Points was our last of three campgrounds we stayed at this summer on our 2-week tenting excursion (before we had our pod) and it was nice. I loved the access to the beach and the big "overlook" area next to the beach that was grassy. This is where we parked ourselves for an entire day.....under the trees overlooking the lake.
