It eliminates the vertical space required for a P-trap thereby allowing for a lower shower floor. So far, 6 years, no problem and I've not heard of anyone else having a problem. You still need the roof vent.&nbsp;</font>]]>

Those exist to vent the fumes when water goes into the tank. Otherwise, the tank would build up pressure and prevent water flow into it. It would eliminate a vent that is common behind sinks that pulls air into the tank if there is a negative pressure situation in the tank. I've read about those sticking and allowing fumes into the RV.]]>

If you needed to snake the lines looks like you remove the device first.&nbsp;<div><br></div><div>If you use them can you eliminate the gray water system through the roof vent? From what I read sounds like yes. Then also get a composting toilet with a through the wall vent. Clean roof!</div>]]>
