What's shocking to me is that if you look at NY state as if it was a country, it has had way more Coronavirus deaths per capita than any country in the world, only beaten by San Marino, which a microstate with only 34K ppl. NY has actually had twice as many deaths per capita as any significant country except Belgium, and its getting close to double Belgium too. Looking at the US data the death rate has flattened out but I'm not seeing any real sign that things are tapering off yet.

Looks like you can survive with an spO2 in the 50's for a short period. 

IANAD, nor do I play one on TV. I was just recalling what I heard on the news by someone described as a doctor familiar with the issue. In any case, we can infer that oxygen levels in the blood are pretty important, and whatever yours is, you should know what the acceptable range is.

There is an interesting study now that ventilators might be getting overused on elderly Covid patients and cause more harm than good. Better to leave them on a lower O2 level on just a nasal cannula or use a bipap. 

It could also be helpful if you think you might be getting COVID-19.

There has got to be a dozen different "tests" around now, and not all of them are reliable. The quick, 5-minute Abbot test can give varying results; especially if the sample is not large enough. The original CDC test was pretty much unusable because two of the three production labs self-contaminated the test kits. The whole testing thing in the US is a pure fiasco, SNAFU, pick the acronym of your choice.

WRT your clorox drip. I'm going to a 100-proof Jack Daniels drip; it should be a bit more enjoyable.

Why bother with an injection, I've set up an IV drip to a gallon of Clorox.  It's a sustained attack.  Next we'll hear that swallowing lye is good for heartburn.

That would almost certainly assure you didn't get Covid. Dead bodies don't get around much so are pretty good at social distancing. 

Right, but if this thing was spreading in late November that would be an important bit of information that would upend the timeline and help the scientific community better understand the history of this virus.

Antibody tests are also useful, but they are retrospective, helping us under stand who was infected at one point or another, but they don't necessarily tell us who is actively infected and contagious.  The are very useful in helping us understand how deeply the SARS-CoV-2 infection has penetrated the general population and what measures are needed to limit it's spread.

I totally agree, and have been commenting to her about needing to get an antibody test at some point.  Everything that she describes going through sounds like what Chris Cuomo (and others) have described (fever, chills, waking up soaked in sweat, shortness of breath, etc.), and the most interesting aspect was her doc being perplexed by her symptoms and the very unusual images of her lungs.

She was so smart to sleep alone and tell her husband not to get near her...that's how sick and scared she was of infecting him.

I'm sure we'll find many more cases where ppl died of this but weren't counted because they died at home or were never tested. 

The good news looking at places like S Korea, Hong Kong, and Singapore is that aggressive testing and contact tracing using smartphone technology can work quite well and keep ppl relatively safe while allowing life to continue, but so far we haven't taken the steps to do that effectively here or in much of Europe because of privacy concerns. 

So...might it have been spreading as early as late December?

Anecdotally I have a friend who was in CA (went to Disneyland and all that) in early December and got deathly ill after returning to the Denver area a week or 10 days later.  Fever, chills, shortness of breath...all of it.  Her doc said she had no idea what it was, and her lungs looked very odd on a CAT scan or X-Ray (not sure which).  I think we may discover that this thing has been with us for longer than we currently think.

Except that same study had quite different results WITHIN NYC versus the rest of the state. IIRC inside NYC the people with antibodies were ~~ 1:5. Outside it was more like 1:7. 

What I take from the above is that the population density has a huge impact on the transmissibility of this thing.

There is also the freshly uncovered evidence that the outbreak had started in Santa Clara about 3 weeks prior to earlier estimates.

I do agree the infected count is low, I personally know 6 with symptoms and told they we're not sick enough for testing. That was as sick as they got, 5 are through it, one is almost through. The death count is also off due to the way NY (others?) are now counting. As said before, we'll probably not know the truth in my lifetime...

850K or so official US cases as of today so you're about 150K short. An antibody study in NY resulted in an estimate of 2.7 million cases in that state alone or about 10x what is officially being reported. If that held nationwide it would be about 8 million infections in the US and about a half percent fatality rate so far. 

I take a Centrum Silver pill every day. (No connection whatsoever with Collidal Silver.)  I don't much think it does a lot of good.  My doctor says it just makes my pee more expensive.  I take it out of habit and I guess because I hope it helps more than it hurts.  Not sure Collidal Silver is much different.  Although I'm pretty sure I wouldn't like to permanently turn blue-grey.

There are still an enormous number of snaie-oil sales people out there, a lot of them getting rich.

As for vaccinations, yes, there is some risk, but it is so vastly outweighed by the benefits that it is hardly even a topic of legitimate discussion.  Look, for example, at the measles crisis we are having right now.  And most of the antivaxers have never seen the consequences of polio.

Just kidding, if you feel that you have fully educated yourself regarding the risks/benefits of collodial silver that's certainly your personal choice. On behalf of the rest of your fellow citizens I would hope you are also following the social distancing guidelines that the CDC has laid out for us.
