What do you mean, "push the locking bar up?" Are you talking about the little button on the bottom of the door latch? If so, pushing it up locks out the mechanism so that the door is only held shut by the magnetic seal. Make sure the latch is pushed down and the button below it is visible. As you say, it flies fully open? Or just to storage position?
