    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.rpod-owners.com/member_profile.asp?PF=8529" rel="nofollow">tcj</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 13090<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 05 Aug 2019 at 8:34am<br /><br /><div>Last week we spent a few days in our Rpod 180 at American Forks camp ground located at the forks of the American and Bumping Rivers on Chinook Pass in Central Washington State.&nbsp; I started a 31 year career working for the US Forest Service in 1968 and lived at the American River Guard station for 3 summers.<br></div><div><br></div><div>Besides getting up early for my morning walks around the areas near the camp ground we took a day trip to the summit of Chinook pass to hike a section of the pacific Crest trail (PCT).</div><div><br></div><div>There is no water available at this camp ground so we filled the fresh water tank from a pitcher pump at the Mather Memorial Parkway rest stop 4 miles from the camp ground.</div><div><br></div><div>Pumping Water for the Rpod.</div><div><img src="https://i.imgur.com/YK7CLSm.jpg" border="0" /></div><div><br></div><div>Our Camp spot.<br></div><div><img src="https://i.imgur.com/wtJbpc3.jpg" border="0" /><br></div><div><br></div><div>Forks of the American and Bumping Rivers 100 yards down stream from our camp.</div><div><img src="https://i.imgur.com/Qo1128p.jpg" border="0" /></div><div><br></div><div>Hobo stew sizzling on the fire.</div><div><img src="https://i.imgur.com/xFqx8uB.jpg" border="0" /></div><div><br></div><div>Sunrise on the American River.</div><div><img src="https://i.imgur.com/swMHSZQ.jpg" border="0" /></div><div><br></div><div>American River Ski Lodge.&nbsp; There is a very rare 20 hole out house in the back.&nbsp; Built by the 932nd Camp Naches CCC Crew in the 1930's.&nbsp; It is now on the forest Service cabin rental program as a group site.<br></div><div><img src="https://i.imgur.com/u8FQFJb.jpg" border="0" /></div><div><br></div><div>American River Guard Station.&nbsp; Built by the CCC crew in 1941.&nbsp; It was my home for 3 summers 50 years ago and is now on the Forest service cabin rental program.</div><div><img src="https://i.imgur.com/tPQiJIV.jpg" border="0" /></div><div><br></div><div>American Forks camp ground group picnic shelter, also built by the CCC crew.</div><div><img src="https://i.imgur.com/PHDdIqw.jpg" border="0" /></div><div><br></div><div>Lake with flowers on the PCT.</div><div><img src="https://i.imgur.com/aHmmfUx.jpg" border="0" /></div><div><br></div><div>Lama Pack String.&nbsp; By the looks of the packs they are on an extend trip heading north.</div><div><img src="https://i.imgur.com/2gQYiAo.jpg" border="0" /></div><div><br></div><div>Dewey Lakes.</div><div><img src="https://i.imgur.com/3TZyUTs.jpg" border="0" /></div><div><br></div><div>Mount Rainier and flowers by lake.</div><div><img src="https://i.imgur.com/b931PWN.jpg" border="0" /></div><div><br></div><div>The Bear Grass was in full bloom.</div><div><img src="https://i.imgur.com/kHwNs4w.jpg" border="0" /><br></div><div><br></div><br>]]>
