+1 or 2+, the C rates were just not cutting it, I went with the D rated and have never looked back. Still considering the 15" option, however seem to be fine, I don't load up the Pod. Keep my tongue weight at 380 (with a genset, on rack). Oddly what made up my mind was entering campgrounds over speedbumps and having attendants tell me I had low tires. Couldn't have said it better myself. The lighter Pods might be able to get by just fine with the factory tires. I just paid $126 for a pair of Carlisle, installed, at Walmart. The 14 inch OEM LRC's on my 179 were only rated for 1750 lbs, or 3500 lbs for the axle. My rear axle weight loaded with wdh tensioned is about 3350 lbs. That's just too close for comfort, especially considering that the slide side weighs more than the curb side. That is why I changed to 15 inch wheels with 2500 lb rated LRD's, not because of country of origin. 

The bigger rPods just plain put a lot of weight on that single axle and its tires and wheels. IMHO, anything you can do to provide some safety margin, especially for the tires which can fail catastrophically, is worth it.

The main thing is check the air pressure often when the tires are cold.  The Carlises have worked for me.

Why do you have no confidence in the tires? Has there been a problem with the tires on the 179s? We have a 2018 179 and have had no problems with the tires but we have stayed mostly within 3 hours of home since we bought it. I just bought 2 Carlisle radial trail  St 225 75 R15 HD  LR E's for $210.00, mounted and put on the camper, as well as leaving the crap tires that were on it there. I really don't see the need to spend an extra $100.00 to buy what I believe is the number 2 selling tire on the market. On Amazon the price was $100.93 and $119.95, respectively for Carlisle and Goodyear.  But it takes a little bit to get them; maybe a week so, so the speed of service is certainly part of the value.  I paid about $15 each for mounting and balancing.

We paid $135 + tax for our Carlisles, D range, ST 205/75 14 tires on Amazon.  Now they cost $150 + tax.  Not a bad value for the money.  Are the Goodyear equivalent size/range really worth that much more money?  Apart from opinions, are there any actual facts demonstrating superior construction and materials?  

I would pay more for union labor to manufacture the tire, but does that labor add up to $150 more per set?  Just curious.

On a 179 the general consensus is a load range D ST tire (ST225/75R 15 or similar). "ST" is for trailers.
