To be clear I went with a 12v tv, actually they are generally dual voltage. Perdinally, i try to avoid using inverters when possible, one less thing to break and consume energy. The 12v TVs are pretty inexpensive on Amazon. I put my 120v one on Craigslist and got 30-40 bucks for it. Agree with offgrid. If just needed to run the TV you do not need to buy a 12 v TV.  All you need is to add a 12V to 120 volt converter.  You cannot do this with a high wattage appliance (e.g. coffee maker) but a TV is fine. Make sure the new tv is the same size or smaller than the factory one so the swivel and strap will work. My dual voltage TV takes 1.5A when on 12Vdc so its a pretty minor load on the battery unless you watch it for many hours.  The radio takes 0.4A and is 12V only. I just got the same size TV as the 120V one that was in my 179. A larger TV will draw more current of course. I am looking at getting a 12 volt TV for our 178 so we can watch it without shore power. Does anyone know how fast they draw down the battery's also, my built in am/fm DVD is 12 volt but does it always pull power from the battery's or when plugged in to shore power does it get it from shore power. My trailer is in storage and I can't check it, if I am plugged into to shore power and turn off my battery's will the am/fm DVD turn off or stay on? And what is the largest TV that will fit?
