We open both emergency red handles and prop the window open about 10" with a small piece of 3/4"x 10" pvc pipe. It works great.

Vann

The arm that pushes window out locks or latched in place and keeps widow held open. All three campers the emergency windows have been hinged at the top they haven't fell to the ground. Maybe the newer r-pods have a different emergency window. I would look at the top of the window to see if it has a hinge. Also the emergency windows have had screens so they are made to be opened for the option of ventilation.
