The KOA across the street was crowded, open area, and much more expensive. Although the facility was older and not updated I found it very clean. There is an older motel at the grounds that appears to have some permanent residents but they were nice enough. They advertise cable and wifi but both are weak but I didn't care because I would rather read.

Can often see big lake freighters plying the waters. Easy freeway access to the Falls with a bonus of being able to park for FREE in Niagara Falls at the State Park parking area - the closest to the Falls. From there it is easy walking distance to the edge of the Falls as well as Canada via the beautiful Rainbow Bridge (walk or drive) - best Falls views are from the Canadian side. Bring your passport. We spent 6 days there last October (drove from Idaho) and the autumn leaves were incredible throughout the Niagara area. Enjoy!

Baseball Hall of Fame, Lucille Ball museum and National Comedy Center, Herkimer Diamonds (not real diamonds but you can mine them and keep all you dig up which you will dig up they are in the Smithsonian museum, Curtis Wright museum, Corning museum, Howe canverns etc etc etc. Great road trip
There are also a couple state parks on the southwest side along Lake Erie, would say an hour or so away from the falls that are worthy too.
