What's your interest? I would think that Nebraska & Kansas don't have a lot of things to see unless you have relatives there.

South Dakota and Wyoming both have lots of things to see & stay, but you have to traverse Neb. & Kansas.

The southern route through New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah also has a bunch of interesting places. I just would not want to take that route in the summer time.

I've been through S Dakota once, only had time to stop and see Rushmore. Would like to see thunderstorms in the Badlands. That was my suggestion, with the possible exception of going through KC. The most direct routes would be through KC or Denver, but I would consider that pretty blah. More interesting (to me) would be to start up through KC and then to South Dakota. That would give you the chance to see the Badlands, Black Hills, and Thunder Basin.

Let us know what you decide. Sounds like it could be fun!

I'm planning to take all of my vacation time at once next year, and spend the month of June with my wife traveling. We live in Northeast Arkansas, and my plan is to loop out to the Sawtooth Mountains in Idaho and back, boondocking as much as possible. I've been out west, but never to Idaho.
