I put a valve on mine, can open and close. Much easier than messing with cap. I had the same issue about 2 weeks ago—hooked to city water and had an empty fresh tank. I noticed water drippong and found the fresh tank full and actually overflowing. We have been on the road since Oct. 17 and only used city water connections in various campgrounds.

I remembered reading about this earlier on the forum.

I disconnected the city water and turned on the water pump. I turned the kitchen faucet on/off about 6 times leaving it on for about 20 seconds and then off for 20 seconds. This procedure solved the problem. I remember that the original post mentioned that some type of debris was caught in the one way valve causing it not to operate correctly. By turning the faucet on/off, apparently the debris is flushed through the valve and cleared. We drained the tank and reconnected to city water supply. We have been using it now for almost 2 weeks with no reccurnce of the problem.

So, it may not be necessary to replace the valve.

Once again the forum is the answer!

I had a same problem with the water situation and was told its a bad check valve. Ill have to wait till the spring to get it repaired since I have already winterized and put the cover and put in storage

That was a sad day, but I look at it this way one more winter day is one day closer to spring!

Hi Mbearden.

1) You're the second person in the past couple of days with problem number 1. By far the most likely is that this is a leaky check valve at the water pump allowing the city water to backfill via the pump into the fresh water tank. I suggest you first disconnect the city water and second pump some water out of the fresh water tankto prevent any leaks from overflowing that system. You can use you water system just fine by refilling the fresh water tank as needed via a hose and using the 12V pump to provide pressure. In fact, that is the only way I ever use mine.

After getting the overfill situation under control the next thing would be to confirm the check valve is not closing. It is located at the water pump. You can test it yourself by disconnecting the suction line from the pump to the tank and then reconnecting the city water. If water runs back out of the pump suction line you've confirmed the leaky check valve.

Or, since this is a new trailer, just take it back to the dealer and tell them to fix it Big smile

2) Nope, its a 120V TV. Silly isn't it? Rather than waste energy on a 12V to 120Vac inverter I just sold my TV on Craigslist and bought a dual 12V/120V TV on Amazon for $130. Bolted right up. You'll need to install a cigarette lighter socket near the TV to run it. That can be connected to 12V at the feed to your audio system. You'll need a voltmeter but its otherwise a very easy mod.

3) On your tank measuring system, if there's no lights at all when you push the buttons and you have 12V available elsewhere then I'd take that back for warranty repair too.

This is all typical new RV stuff, stick with it and it will soon be sorted.

Took our 189 for its second trip this weekend...several questions came up.

1. Hooked up to city water...with a pressure regulator. Noticed water dripping from potable water fill. Water tank was full.

2. I must have been mistaken but thought the TV was 12 volt?

At the walk through the tank measuring system worked fine....I must have missed something

...no lights at all.
