I ordered a replacement from Amazon (JR Products 10111 Premium Vinyl Insert) that was much thicker than the one the factory installed. On the slide-out side, I was able to replace it with little problem as there were no obstructions other than some excess silicone sealant in some areas of the track.

The problem is the door side. We have the Thule awning. Does that have to be removed to replace the strip (I certainly hope not!)? Can one just use the strip from the bottom edges and put the molding as far into the channel under as I can reach since the awning protects the screws that are too far under to reach? Has anyone had to replace the vinyl trim strip? What is your experience?
