You would not have had enough power to run the AC, but the converter would have been able to charge the battery at a much higher rate than the 12V output which is usually very limited in the amperage it can supply.

I've been there. Perhaps we will get up there sometime, but I don't know when. We are planning a trip up to NYS in September.

At the time when we reserved our site, they didn't have any with power so we figured we would boon-dock for the week. Little did we know it would be hotter that heck. We did okay all things considered. Used the Wonder fan in the bathroom and we had a 10" battery operated fan. I monitored our battery charge throughout the week. My plan was to use my 1000W generator to charge to battery directly. It has a DC output that I wired some battery clips to so it was easy to connect. By Wednesday the battery needed charging so I connected the generator for 2 hours. But by the next morning we needed more charge again. Lucky the site next to ours emptied out and it was a powered site so I ran my 100' extension cord over and charged up for 7 hours. That took care of things for the balance of the week.

We did see another Rpod there but for only 1 night. Never got a chance to meet the owners.
