I mounted it behind the power station to the left. Low on the wall in between the corner and the head door. I mounted a piece of pine that I could anchor into the studs. Then mounted the box on the pine. For me and my wires, it was easier to mount upside down. Does not hurt performance. Tight working conditions mounting, but the rest was easy.
Thanks
Jeff

My model only protects against surges and not brown outs. More expensive models do both. I also use a bike lock to secure it to the electrical pole. It locks on with 4 clips on the lugs that project up from the base. Don't spend money on installation of that one. That should come free with the purchase given that it takes a matter of about a minute to install one. You will likely find a better price online also. The slide topper is something I would like to get eventually. I made one that is not quite as convenient, but it was a whole lot less expensive. As for the power protection, I use a plug-in model at the post so I can see if power is good before ever plugging in the R-Pod. It is not as sophisticated as the one you are considering, but it is also much less expensive.

Campers are also more demanding nowadays having multiple A/C’s and full sized appliances. The biggest problem we are seeing is low voltage. Low voltage is the result of all the campers trying to pull power at the same time. This forces your appliances to run off less volts than they were designed to and in turn will work harder and will eventually damage or ruin thousands of dollars worth of electrical equipment in your camper. Surge protection works a lot like a powerstrip for your computers at home. Once a problem is detected your surge protector will kick off all power and will not restore until the issue is fixed. A flush mounted LCD display will notify you of any problems. It will also detect other issues like mis-wired pedestals, or damaged wiring that occurs often because power pedestals at campgrounds are left out in the elements.
<p ="m_6365884438501526358gmail-m_-3321184162185731175c3" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0pt 0px; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; line-height: 1.15;"><span ="m_6365884438501526358gmail-m_-3321184162185731175c2 m_6365884438501526358gmail-m_-3321184162185731175c7 m_6365884438501526358gmail-m_-3321184162185731175c4" style="vertical-align: line; font-size: 11pt;">

The thought of having to deal with the R-Dome was not appealing. Before our accident, I had made an awning which I used and liked even though it took both my wife and me to slide it into the Keder rail. After the accident, I was able to get the Thule awning installed since the side was replaced and it had the reinforcement needed. Now I can just stick the crank in the socket and turn it and have the awning out in a matter of seconds by myself. The awning suits our camping style better than the R-Dome. It isn't a matter of which is better than the other. It is a matter of which suits the desires of the owner better.
