The red light should come on briefly and go out when the burner lights. To run on electric the outside switch must be on and the Pod plugged in to shore power. However, the two modes are completely independent. There is no interaction. You can run on gas and electric simultaneously, which will heat water almost twice as fast. If the gas switch is on and propane is present it will run regardless of the electric switch, and vice versa. If the electric is on and powered but propane is absent the red light will stay but the electric element will still heat. If both electricity and propane are present both heaters will operate until temperature is reached, after which the electric element will maintain the temp by itself.

When we bought it I wasn’t told about the inside and outside switches. So to run on electric inside switch off outside switch on and just opposite to run on propane. Sound right?
