Dealers don't make the call.. It goes specifically by the VIN, which the manufacturer creates for each trailer, car, truck, bus, motorcycle, etc, etc, as it comes off the line. The manufacturer also does a "Certificate of Origin" for each, that gets filed with the federal government. The data on the Certificate is the end all of the info on the vehicle.

I once bought a 10 year old motorcycle that had never been titled, it was on a certificate only. Was a bit of a pain to go through when I titled it. But I love that Duc.. LOL

R-pod years are somewhat fluid. They don't really go by years (as others have stated). Right around June or July, the dealers seem to switch the year designation on new R-pods coming in.

Thanks for this advice! I feel better, I was starting to feel nervous that I had been duped.

I do not yet have the title. I was under the impression that the title will be mailed to me by the DMV along with the license plate(s). Am I mistaken about this?

"Rpod" years do not follow calendar years or even "automobile" years.
Yours could very well be a "2017", manufactured in 2016.

For example, I purchased my "2010" RP173 in late June of 2009.

Hello rpod community,

I just purchased a used 2017 rpod 179 from a local dealer. I had been looking for a used rPod for about 3-4 months after a neighbor who has one showed me his. 

I paid cash, and the Sale contract lists the vehicle as a Used 2017 Forest River Rpod. 

However, while preparing for our first trip, I noticed a laminated label on the key FOB said 2016, and this made me wonder. So I also checked the sticker panel that has the serial number on the driver side exterior and I see that the date listed is 7/1/2016. 

Did this dealer trick me and call a 2016 a 2017, or is a unit manufactured in 7/1/2016 called a 2017?

Is there any other way to confirm which model I have?
