Propane only. Many of us carry a small electric heater for those times when electric hook ups are available. (It's much quieter too.)

After 3 weekends of camping I thought we'd share our experiences.  
We added privacy curtains on each bunk and the queen bed area.  The latter works Great as a changing area.  I had to tailor the bunk curtains to size but the kiddos love them.  
We found out the hard way that the Pex tubes were not crimped properly to the hot water heater, fixed.  The dealer did not open valves to hot water heater, fixed. 
The factory did NOT tighten the trap and sink connections, fixed. 
We also learned that we go through more water than anticipated, short showers are a must with 4 campers when there is no water connection.  
Dumping was MUCH easier than we anticipated.  But is it possible that they switched the dump labels?  The gray water is marked "sewer" and the Black water is marked "waste water".  
We had some Very rainy days and nights and the tent portion leaked a bit.  I fixed that too.  Anyone with a 176t can PM me and I'll send a pic of the easy fix.  
We took out the wardrobe hanging rod and I installed 3 shelves (4 including base).  That works Really well for the 4 of us.  We each have a place for clean clothes.  
We've all been perfectly happy on the stock mattresses.  Maybe because we're all small?  Anyway, they're staying.  
We've been removing the table and using it on the camping mat under the awning.  I'd like to come up with some airplane style fold down tables to eat inside, the stock table seems just too big.

Hi Elizabeth, 
I haven't addressed it yet.  I have a feeling some patience and a Dremel will fix the problem.  The slots that the locking arms are supposed to go into look like they were hacked out with an ax. When I have time I'll try to clean and smooth them and hopefully make room the the locking arms to fully close.

We got a key without the groove as well.  It's worthless. Get copies of the one with the grove.  Take it to a hardware store and get the right one.  They're universal.

Welcome!  We picked up our 2018 176T midsummer last year.  Love the extra space and open feeling the tent provides.  In very cold weather we keep the tent closed which also works just fine. Just picked up the Ikea mattress for the large bed.

Our rpod came with 3 keys.  one for the main door,  one that's does the storage lockers and rear hatch and one for the outdoor shower door.

I have a solid cover on the bed of my pickup that is just as hard to get into as a car.  Realistically that is not hard either.  All any of this does is remind honest people that they are honest.

I also have a frontier, and I had a tonneau cover put on it. I dont pretend it can't be opened with a simple pry bar, but, it does offer a small amount of security for bed cargo. The problem with most suv's as a tow vehicle is, they just wern't built to be a tow vehicle. Many suv's "look" like they are powerful, only to find out they are built on a toyota corolla platform. My frontier has part time 4 wheel drive, so the normal maintainance you think of with trucks is cut way back. We towed comfortably with our Dodge Grand Caravan for year, over 20,000 miles. All was well. We upgraded to an F-150 with a cap on the back. I am really impressed with the handing an ease of towing with the truck.
I agree, that the caps are not as secure as our van was, but I like that storage in it and barring driving an armored truck, if they want to get in they will do whatever damage they have to.

Our Rpod 189 is supposed to be right at the 3,000 lb mark. So I have been looking at vehicles with 5,000 capability.  Just giving myself some wiggle room.

Problem with trucks is anything in the back is essentially unsecured. Anyone can walk off with it.
And I have not seen many toppers, covers, etc that a determined man with a jackknife couldn't get into in 5 minutes. Plus IMO upkeep is higher on trucks, although those larger SUV's probably blur that line a fair amount.

4wd has more things to go wrong, and higher costs if it does go wrong. I've driven pickup's most of my life.
Just not sure I want to retire in one.

Welcome! Be aware that just because it has a tow package, it is not necessarily suitable. We towed with a 2016 Ford Escape with tow package. It had a 3500 lb tow rating. Our R-Pod is an RP179 which is pushing that limit. While for the most part, it worked, I would have traded eventually if we had not had an accident that forced the issue. Now we tow with a 2010 Nissan Frontier LE 4x4 Crew Cab. It has a 6100 lb tow rating. While the engine in the Escape was smaller, it was turbocharged (Ecoboost), which meant that it kept its power as we increased in elevation. The Frontier's V6 is twice the size but loses 4% power/1000 ft gain in elevation. So at anything above sea level, the Escape had more power than the Frontier. The biggest difference is in driving axle. The Escape was FWD. If it had been AWD, it would have been better. The Frontier is RWD unless switched to 4WD. Traction is better when the rear axle is doing the work.

While I liked the SUV body style, I like the crew cab pickup better. It has the advantage of having a bed into which things I don't want in either the cab of the tow vehicle or in the R-Pod can be stowed. We have a bed cover so things stowed there stay dry. I dont' know the type of vehicle for which you are looking. I hope you find something suitable in time for you to pick up your RP189.

We are new to RVing.  picking up a new 176t when the snow clears.  
Towing with a 2014 Tacoma V6.  It has Towing package with 6500 limit.  
Installed a brake controller.  
We chose the 176t because it has the bunk beds and the tent queen bed.
