Was funny, we were being given the tour through the pod at the dealer. And I was finishing the guys sentences for him.  The Dealer actually said "You know more about these pods than our people do, you could sell these!"

And I realized he was right.

We were very happy when we found the Jeep for the price we paid.

She wheeled that pod around with style and grace yesterday.
But I did end up springing for a WDH hitch, I'm not even sure of the brand. Bit over 300$ seemed reasonable at the time.

Have not checked actual mileage yet.

Computer said it went from around 11 mpg at 60+ up to over 15 mpg if I kept the speed about 52.

But I do not know how accurate that is, yet.

Did my first mod today. Installed a thermometer with a command strip just right of the kitchen upper cabinet. Then shuffled the dividers under the kitchen sink. Removed all 3, then took the left one and mounted it sideways behind the trap.  Just about doubled that cabinets space available.

Looks great! Finding a suitable tow vehicle is a chore, we are using a Honda Ridgeline that we already own but its underpowered. Now looking at older, used Toyota 4Runner or Lexus 460. 

For portable solar, we use a Renogy 100 watt suitcase, more than enough to meet our needs. No generator for us, as we don't need ac current typically. I did recently purchase this extension so that I can move the solar around to maximize light:

Well we have been waiting, and waiting, and waiting.

First day of april I joined here.

Today I called our dealer, Roth RV in Minnesota.

He told me our R-pod 189 got made today.

With any luck next week should see us go check it out, spend a night in it, and bring it home.
Man its been a long long hard wait.

We have a LOT of stuff ready to load it up with. And I have a few mods I want to do right off the bat.
Shelf over the bed, possible shelf over the sofa. 12v plug in, with 2 USB plugs and a battery volt meter to find a good place to install.

Solar which I am thinking I am going to leave loose for now. But I think I need to make a good extention cable for it.

Thanks to all of you for all your contributions. Keeping me interested, researching, learning.  Keeping me sane really.  I appreciate it.

Hope to see some of you out there in a few weeks.

Welcome and congratulations from another retiree. The 189 did not exist when we purchased our 179. We have been very happy with it and I have made many modifications to make it even better. Welcome Bill and Cindy and congratulations on your 189 and on your retirement(s).  This is a great forum to find info and if you can't find it, just post your questions as there are many experienced podders who will gladly share their expertise with you.  My wife enjoys the FB side of the r-pod forums although we both agree this side tends to have the more 'technical' side of things covered.

Sorry to hear about your parents, both of us are 'orphans' as well as both parents on both sides have passed on.  Ones faith in the Creator will heal your loss over time. 

I had an employee from your area work for me a number of years ago and spent one winter in northern Michigan.  Told me that would never happen again, depression and moodiness set in as we had weeks and weeks of cloudy / cold / dark weather.  At Fargo he at least had abundant  sunshine throughout the winter.  Enjoy your new 189, your hobbies and your dear wife as you explore this great country.  Make each day a new adventure!

I am Bill, aka Ghosthawk and my wife is Cindy.

We have just arranged to buy  a new R-pod 189.

Yeah the new one with the sofa.

We are still looking for a suitable tow vehicle. Seems they all want some 10 to 15,000$ more for them than I am willing to spend.

I am 65, retired, jack of all trades, master of procrastination.
My Cindy retires April 27th.

We will probably take some short jaunts this summer but we are really looking to head South East and get out of this North Dakota Winter.

Already learning a lot here and on youtube.

Have tools and an generator incoming from Harbor Freight, and another 1k worth of goodies sitting in Amazon cart. Mostly simple stuff, but some handy things I hope.

I was a fairly early adapter to internet forums. Have been active for over 20 years on a wide variety.

Hoping to find a good community here as well.

My wife and I both love to read, fish, kayak, and explore.
My interests beyond those are wide and widely varying.

Currently tying panfish jigs like mad trying to get ready for some serious fishing this spring.

Lost both Mom and Dad in the last year. Miss them some but they left us fairly well off.
Enough that I can splurge a little and give RVing a try.
