Also when using the awning braces straight vertical position you may want to think about using simple "guide" lines from the top of the awning where the brace attaches to the ground that you stake down. This helps stabilize your awning in case of sudden wind gusts and or heavy rain. A couple words to hopefully help those with Thule awnings. There support braces are less then "robust" and after accidentally running into one of them it gave up the ghost one evening during a big rain storm and collapsed. Luckily they have a two year warranty but I also went ahead and ordered an additional brace on my dime so I always have a spare on hand. As for the awning support brackets on the side of your Pods I strongly suggest you remove the screws that hold the brackets and either install same length but larger screws and use epoxy on the threads when reinstalling. Why because I've also had one of these brace brackets pop right off the side of the trailer without much force on this bracket at all! Its a cheap fix that can save you from getting a big headache.

AWchief, I think you supposed correctly.  I just looked at a few photos of 2019 Rpods on Canopy Country's (our local dealer) web site and Blue Dog's.  They all have the canopy clips.  I'm not too worried about it.  I think I like it without the clips.

TCJ, Interesting supposition, my 19/189 has the clips on the side of the trailer for the Thule awning supports to attach too. Our R-pod is a 2019 180.  The awning on it does not have the clips to attach the poles to the side of the Rpod.  The poles extend to a length of 95 inches and have little feet on the bottom with a couple holes to drive stakes through into the ground.

I have the same problem.  The awning they show in the video is not the one that is installed on my new 178. I believe you have the same awning I do and the poles are just not long enough.  If im wrong please someone help me out.

Just picked up our new R-pod 178 and I have a question regarding the Thule awning set up. Can you adjust the poles for the awning to reach the ground verses just setting them up on the side of the pod? I have seen pictures of this, but I don't believe the poles are long enough to reach the ground....am I doing something wrong?
