They do make and I have one truck with a front mount 2" hitch receiver. Easy to make it to carry a bike(s) adapter. I misunderstood your question about putting the rack on the Frontier it can only be placed in the Frontier receiver when you are not towing.

I use the stromberg carlson tongue mount dual bike rack with my wait for it......... Frontier. I can see the bike in my rear view mirror as I drive. I would be afraid to have them in the back. Once I forgot to fasten them properly, and as I was driving I noticed them really moving. I stopped and realized my error, and fixed it. I would never have known on a rear mount. It's a little more expensive though.

Yes there's an adapter to from the 1.25"receiver to the 2" receiver. We use the Highland Sportwing 2 bike rack which mounts on the spare tire receiver of the 179 and put the spare tire in the bed of our Nissan Frontier.
