We didn't get time to hike down to the bottom of the canyon but just enjoyed the sights. I observed from the viewing area at the park down in the canyon that there is a little sliver of private land which some lucky owner has a cabin built on it across the river. I wish I could of seen how does the owners of this cabin gain access to their cabin? I could see with my binoculars no access road to it or view a bridge to it but that it has solar panels mounted for power. Interesting place and hope to explore more of the area and the upper Allegheny River area in the future.

Well scratch the Grand Canyon of PA of our bucket list since we made to it a few weeks ago. Traveled west to east on Rt. 6 one of PA scenic highways which was interesting trip and went into Wellsboro, a really cool town and a must see if your in the area. Stayed at Grand Canyon Campground which was okay nothing great but not bad either. If I had to do it over again by arriving during a week day I could of probably score one of the few, I think there is 8 or 10, campsites at Leonard Harrison State park. Its a first come first serve campground, 30 & 50 amp service with water and dump station, and the campground is within walking distance of the overlook to the canyon. Beautiful place but since then I've learned there are some really nice places to camp north of Wellsboro at state park on a lake. Learned that after the fact from the guy who owns the RV repair shop I deal with who's family is from there, small world indeed, who I sent out an SOS from there when my converter died. Lucky I was smart enough to have taken along a battery charger so we just rolled on once he help me diagnosis the failed converter.

The closest campground we've found, time and distance wise, is Moyers Grove Campground in <span ="_Xbe">Wapwallopen (that's a mouthful to say!) Its rated four stars but at best I'd give it maybe three. It could of been when we stayed there but it seems to be a bit of a hillbilly heaven with having to listen to the blast of out door DJ music until 9:30 - 10pm on a Saturday night. If your into that more power to you. We stayed once at <span -original-name="Lehigh Gorge Campground">Lehigh Gorge Campground which is not far from 81 and just off 80, not bad but a little bit to far to drive to get into Wilkes-Barre.
