Ontario is a perfect base camp for the Niagara Falls area. On a clear night you may see the lights of Toronto Canada across 30 odd miles of lake. Less than 20 miles from the falls. Like someone else on this thread said - park your TV near the falls on the American side and walk overRainbow Bridge to Canada (remember your passport). Canada and the bridge have the best views and is an easy walk. Other places to visit nearby: Goat Island (American side), Welland Canal and Niagara on the Lake (Canadian side). Traffic across any of the bridges to/from Canada is usually bad. The Welland Canal is where the big lake freighters and even military ships are seen bypassing the falls on their way to/from Lake Ontario and Erie and the lakes above. Cool stuff watching huge ships rise or lower as they navigate the numerous locks between the lakes.

Curtis Museum in Hammondsport (he should get credit for the first flight not the Wright Brothers!!!) Kodak Museum in Rochester. And hunting for diamonds in Herkimer (their "diamonds" are in the Smithsonian) is a blast. If you can borrow a copy of RVing for Dummies from your library there is a section on traveling through western NY with many more tips. Also on the way north a great stop is Scranton PA. there is the national railroad museum and at another site you can take a real coal train down to a closed coal mine. Then there is a Houdini museum with a show if you are a fan of magic. New York side of Niagara Falls is more park like. If you have a passport you can walk across the bridge to the Canada side which has more of the tourist sites (Ripley's Believe it or Not, Guinness Book of Records etc etc). Although we have done this trip numerous times, this recent visit with an RV was clearly the best way to travel. I recommend using Roadtrippers to plan your trip. They can point out interesting places to stop along your route. We found many oddball places using that website. We like the seeing strange things that are off the beaten track. The only way to survive getting through this cold winter is sitting in front of the computer planning our trips next summer. Cannot wait. Good luck on your trip to through the North East
Several wineries and craft beer places to visit if that's your thing. I've enjoyed staying at Watkins Glens State Park several years back although in a popup, it has some great hiking and cool scenery. Also Letchworth State Park (https://www.letchworthpark.com/) has a really awesome gorge, great hiking and water falls. Its a beautiful park. Enjoy

We will be in Raleigh North Carolina in late July then heading north to Niagara Falls. We have never been out there and looking at maps and on the internet just is overwhelming. I know that a lot of you live out there and could give us the best advice on what to see and best places to stay. I do know that you need to make reservations in most campgrounds. So points of interest an campgrounds from Raleigh to Niagara Falls would be greatly appreciated.

Looking forward to warmer weather..

Thanks

Ron
