We have really enjoyed our 179 and have made a number of mods (see link below in signature). I also use the jack to raise both trailer tongue and rear of Tow Vehicle (TV). Doing so also ensures the hitch is locked on to the ball correctly as it will not lift the TV unless it is correctly hitched and locked down. There have been a few times when there was enough of a slope that I still had to use the snap-up lever to get the bars in place even with the TV/trailer raised up. If I had not raised it up, it would have been nearly impossible to get the bars our Equal-i-zer hitch onto the L brackets.

I hope you make many fun memories with your 179.
If you jack the T.T. up while hitched, until it actually starts lifting the T.V. , Its super easy to put the friction bars on/off. You should never really have to struggle with that.

Now we've gone from tenting, to multiple pop-ups, to the pod. We had a great DRY time when in the pod in the Lancaster , PA area. Several campers asked about the 179 and tours were provided by W. Our adult kids thought we had made a great decision to move to the pod. The grandkids loved it. other than dealing with the crazy heavy weight distribution hitch and bars (easy getting one on and off, difficult with the other bar) it was an easy transition. W, who really wanted another "expandable," loved it when we saw it and is already planning both functional and decorative mods. Have to see what it takes to install the dome....dry run soon. Looking forward to getting away into the Fall.
