Yes, we gave several tours on our trip, including the Cop who stopped traffic while I re-hitched. (trailer came off at about 10 MPH coming out of a Cabelas on the way home. Hitch was full of Montana dirt road dust. Flushed later that day with WD40--no harm done.)

We don't hate LA or the state of California & have many fond memories of LA & the Montery Bay Area but the opportunity costs associated with the state were just too high.  Didn't mean to offend anyone in or from the Golden State with my comment.

R Pods do make "great fishing camps".  Pull into any camp and people seem to gravitate to the Pod and come over to say "hi" and look inside.  During our 9 days at White Horse we met 3 poders and held a number of "open houses" with Pod walk-thru's.

Sounds like you have an interesting plan. Plotting a fishing trip almost as good as going. R Pods seem to make great "fish camps".

We were in National forest campground 20 miles from Wisdom. MT. also about 20 miles from Idaho border.

I pass that fly shop, on Clybourn, on my way downtown. Haven't stopped in because I'm driving a horse carriage and can't leave the horse.

Still like living in  Chicago but love the Rockies.

Also a friend recently introduced me to the Rush River in Wisconsin -- great fly fishing, shorter drive.

Moved out to Idaho from Chitown in 2004.  Never looked back.  Just spent a few days up on the Madison. Tell Jon and Andy at ChiFly Smitty says hello if you ever get into thier shop downtown.  Next time your out this way lets go fishing!

Montana, that's nice.  First long trip...even better.

I'm new to fly fishing but not fishing in general.  The purpose of the post was to gauge regional interest in ff'g.  This Nov. we're going to Lee's Ferry in Glen Canyon, AZ.  on a recon with a possible guided trip next spring or early fall.

Lee's Ferry has soon bodacious native Rainbow Trout 14 to 21 inches.  The trout have pink flames on their sides from eating the freshwater shrimp.  Could be a real hoot.

Just Back from Montana, Big Hole River area. Did some fly fishing -- not as much as I like--Family get together.

Also, first long trip in Pod, great time!

I live in Chicago but was born and raised in L.A. Does that make me left coaster?

When you get back post a couple of war stories, love to read them.

We're going up to White Horse Lake here in AZ.  IT's a small, high country, lake but by Idaho & Montana standards it's more like an over sized pond.
