Pete's RV - Indiana : Hi folks. I purchased a 2018...

Sierra for a shakedown, we returned home. The 110V functions didn't work, but most other things did. ---A pretty nice trip overall. And then, after arriving at home, a young lady augered into the R-Pod on the street at our house at about 2:30 AM, tearing the axle off, the wheel well, electrical harnesses and so forth.
An interesting point--insurers don't really understand how to handle travel trailer trailers. Without an axle, they are a heavy b read box... So, the estimate has been fairly interminable (no one apparently knows how to fix a trailer). The insurers don't understand that a gap without a trailer ruins significant vacation plans, and should be a part of recompense. The saga continues. Hope you are all enjoying a wonderful summer, and I hope that nature is treating you exceptionally well. "what a long, long strange trip it's been...." All the best, Bruce.

Pete's RV - Indiana : I purchased my 2018 178 from Pete's...

    Author: Don&Amy
Subject: 10436
Posted: 01 Aug 2017 at 10:46am

I purchased my 2018 178 from Pete's on May 23, 2017. As I live in Virginia, all communications regarding the purchase were done via telephone or email. My overall experience was positive with the exception of a hitch or two in the process.

I arrived at my scheduled time (9:35 am) and was promptly greeted at the door. The receptionist let my salesperson, Steve, know I was there and he greeted me and called the gentleman performing the walkthrough.

The walkthrough was rather abbreviated. Had I not been on this site and gotten to know about the operation of the different systems, I would have been lost. The Pod was cleaned and well-prepped. Everything worked and I saw no QC issues whatsoever.

The one minor issue I did experience was with the brake controller installation. They took my vehicle (2016 Ford Escape Titanium) before 10:00 am. After several hours, I asked the technicians how it was going and they said they were having a difficult time placing the controller. I had ordered a Tekonsha IQ. I told them there was a video on E-Trailer which clearly showed where to mount the Controller in an Escape. Long story short, they finally finished with the installation at about 3:30 pm. Roughly 5.5/6 hours! And to top it off, they didn't install the Tekonsha but rather a very cheap Curtis (non-proportional)controller. Needless to say, I was not a very happy camper!

I spoke with both my salesman and the manager about the discrepancy. They were very apologetic and understanding. I agreed to take the cheap controller as I really didn't know much about them up to that point. I can say that the trip from Indiana to Virginia quickly convinced me I needed a different brake controller.

When I got home, I contacted Pete's and told them the brake controller they installed wasn't going to work. They sent me a check to cover the cost of a new controller. Outstanding! I appreciate things do go wrong however, it's all in how it's handled. They handled it very well I thought.

At any rate, I would not hesitate to recommend Pete's RV to any of my friends. Good price and outstanding follow-through.
