We have found the 178 to be a perfect fit for us. We, too, like the two bed option. In fact, we converted ours with a twin and side table in the back. See link in sig. That gives us a bit more living space and more counter space. Just got tired of climbing over each other and have gotten quite adept and quickly converting dinette.

My wife and I are retired and rv newbie wanabies. We had been looking at the 179 and 180s. Then we saw a used 178 and liked the idea of having 2 separate beds. Congratulations on your 179. We are on our third trip with ours. We have done 8800 miles on this trip and aren't done yet! There are just the two of us and we're retired. The differences between the 178 & 179 are probably mostly personal preference and maybe the number of people you are sleeping.

If you need a slightly larger dining area and/or there are 3 or 4 travelers, you might be inclined to the 178.

If there are only 2 of you, and you don't need the larger dining area, then the 179 might be preferable.

The 179 does have more open floor space and storage cabinets as well. That plus the larger slide out makes it feel roomier.
