The most important thing with a Wrangler is the gearing and auxilary cooling if you have an auto tranny. If you have a standard tranny you won't need it. If you're gearing is 3.73 or 4.10 or higher you should be fine. There is a way to see your build sheet for the Wrangler but I don't remember how. Someone on the Forum knows how to look it up.

Hi,
I tow my r-pod 178 with a 2012 jeep Rubicon unlimited. The jeep is lifted with a 2.5 inch AEV lift, it has 35 in tires and 4:10 gears. I have a Anderson WDH with anti sway built in it. I live in a Mountain Valley in Utah. I have pulled it to Wyoming over many mountain passes. I have pulled it in the winds of Wyoming and Idaho with out any problems I don't go over 70. It seems to pull best at 65 some times over steep mountain passes I have to go to the lowest gears but that is pulling with a gas rig. Have pulled it over 2,500 miles with no problems

i normally have the pod parked on vacant land i have near a small lake but reserved a spot at a campground about 30 minutes away before i purchased the Jeep.  

being the campground is fairly close, i may just try and take it on the back roads, stripped of supplies, and see how she handles.

 It would be interesting to see if you could load up to the full gross weight capacity. 

That being said. If you know the unloaded delivered weight of the unloaded pod (sticker weight) you could weigh you camping cargo on a bathroom scale and write down each items weight as you load. Take fresh water into account too (8.34 pounds per gallon).

Be aware that the battery and propane might not have been included on the delivered weight sticker. You might have to add those to the total as well.

Well, the GVWR is supposed to be as heavy as the pod can get, so it probably won't usually be that heavy, but perhaps most important, you'll have serious liability issues if your in an accident, your fault or not, pulling a trailer to heavy for your vehicle. 

I like to stay around under about 80% of the vehicle rating in terms of comfort and safety.

All that said, if it were me, I might do it if it's really only 30 minutes on the road.  I'd plan on being extra vigilant.  I'm not always too smart.

I have a 2011 181G that I pulled with my Sport Trac.  I recently purchased a 2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara.  I'm nervous about towing my rPod and was wondering if anyone has any experience or thoughts.  The 181G has a GVWR of 3787 and from what I've found the max towing on the Jeep is 3500.  I will only be taking it short distance (travel time 30 minutes) and will have an electronic brake.  Thoughts?
