Our tow vehicle is a 2013 JKU with max tow. As stated above it's not very fast, and the auto trans often needs to be shifted manually to select the correct gear. But it's very stable with a weight-distributing anti-sway hitch. Would a V8 engine be better? Yes, but the Wrangler can do it.

The thing that makes a short wheelbase vehicle able to tow is that the distance between the rear axle and the hitch ball is usually also very short. Therefore, the trailer does not exert as much force on the tow vehicle. I noticed this when I moved from the Escape to the Frontier. The distance between the axle and hitch on the Escape was about 3 feet. On the Frontier, it is more like 5 feet. I notice the trailer more with the Frontier than I did with the Escape. That extra 2 feet makes a difference.

I had heard a rumor that all Jeeps were now available with a 3500 pound tow rating, forgot about that, thanks for the reminder. Of course, prior years do not carry that rating. 2 and 4 door since 2016 have been 3500lbs as stated in owners manual.
For the 2 door, must have class 2 hitch and 4:10 gears..
4 door 3:73 or 4:10 for 3500 lbs.

Jeep will pull Rpod, 4 door no weight dist needed, just brake controller.
2 door, i personally still wouldn't pull one. But each their own.
Itll be a slug in hills around Ky, esp if you have Auto.
There were times in mtns in Wa state id be going 35max in 3rd with stick.
Itll do it, wont be fast...
