On our new 2016 Rpod 180, we have water inside both hatches after a rain, (not towing). Water seems to be getting inside the door of the hatch and then somehow spilling at the bottom centre onto the sill and then overflowing onto the inside floor. I am suspecting the piano hinge allowing water into the hatch door. I have recaulked the inside and outside perimeter of the hatch doors. I don't see any water getting in on the seals on the wall of the trailer, nor is water coming from somewhere else.

Anyone else had this problem and have a cure?

PS We live in Prince Rupert BC, we get 100 inches of rain a year!

I have no idea how to help you but you are living in the rain capital of Canada, you better get that problem solved! Please keep us updated because I am planning to move to your area next year.

It can't come through the piano hinge, you may have to tighten the laches to push the door harder against the gasket.

Thanks marwayne, I was thinking water was coming in through the hinge and then getting into a poorly done rivet. But I think you are right, this past winter when the pod was sitting on the dealer's lot, we had a lot of freeze/thaw and the dealer did not use both latches to close the door. I noticed when I first looked at it in Feb. that the door was not sealing well because of the ice.

I do find the latches are already pretty tight but I'll see if I can tighten them up a bit, rain forecast tomorrow so I will not have to wait long to see if my caulking and tightening of latches work. I can tell there is still water in the door but there are drain holes in the bottom and hopefully when we go south on our first big trip it will try up. Forecast in southern BC is for 27 degrees C.

Just bent the laches a little and when you open and close the laches push a little against the door.

I have noticed that if you lock the latch it will also tighten up the distance between the door and the seal.
