| Does the R-Pod's TV/Entertainment center come with a earphone jack? My wife will often go to bed early and I'll watch TV or a movie for a while. Given the small space, it would be nice to be able to use earphones and not disturb someone's sleep. |

| There is not a earphone jack on the tv. There is an analog connection that could be hooked to a stereo receiver or amp. This information is based on the Audiovox VE927 TV unit. |

My little TV has inputs but no outputs.
It's possible to add a jack just ahead of the speakers that would disconnect the speakers when your earbuds are plugged in. Gotta crack open the case, obviously.

Thanks folks... Sounds like the TV doesn't have a jack and would need to be rewired or convert the audio visual jacks... Too bad, it wouldn't have cost much to include a jack.
My wife and I are still in shopping mode. So far, we like the R-Pod 171 the best, but wish we could find it all at 1500-7700 lbs. I know, dream on....

The AudioVox VE926 unit (here is the http://audiovox2.info/docs/voxx_con/man/VE927_DOC_OM.PDF - Owner's Manual ) has RCA-out audio jacks and a composite video-out jack on the back. A pair of wireless headphones (like http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=8246030 - these ones available at WalMart ) that can be hooked-up to most home televisions would do the job. Or, you could use a regular pair of corded headphones that have a volume control (like http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=11060808 - these ones available at WalMart ) along with an RCA-to-stereo plug adapter (like http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=12021699 - this one available at WalMart - although its hideously expensive; you should be able to find one for $5 elsewhere). You need headphones with a volume control as the television's volume won't (or isn't supposed to by the spec) change the RCA-out plugs volume. |

We've used the RCA plugs with a mini-plug adapter and a Y-adapter to attach two pair of headphones to our dvd player/tv while our toddler is sleeping. Couple problems with it. No volume control from the set, so it'd be better to have it hooked up to a pair of powered headphones or speakers. Secondly, audio does not come out when on the TV mode. It works for DVD or Radio, but not TV. Not sure why, exactly.
