My 2016 171 came without the yellow fold-up boot on the front (to save cranking) Does anybody know it they can be retrofited?

Yes they can. I retrofitted one on our 2016 179. It is really easy and the good thing is you don't need to drill any holes. The one that is already there is in the right place for it to work. Someone had one available not too long ago. I don't know if it is still available.
Some people like them. Some don't. I am one of the people who likes them.

Stephen, what is a reason NOT to like them? How much are they? New? I will look for the used one. Thanks

What's not to like about the flip-down foot? The bolts connecting the foot to the jack tend to bend over time and eventually break because the unthreaded shank isn't long enough. I've had to replace two bolts in the year we've had our 179. I bought some longer bolts whose shanks will fill the entire span; only time will tell how well they'll do.

An alternative you might wish to investigate is a https://smile.amazon.com/Husky-31610-Brute-Retractable-Extension/dp/B00BX9C59Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1493686103&sr=8-1&keywords=Husky+super+foot - Husky Brute SuperFoot . It is not automatic. It uses a pin to manually flip it from stowed to deployed. I have one that I am not using. While it is a nice foot, I wanted the automatic flip-foot. I also had to shorten the extension piece since in my driveway, I couldn't flip the Husky foot down when it was full-length. I am keeping it as a spare in case something happens to the flip-foot.

As for bending the bolt in the flip-foot, I bent a bolt when one of the links of the safety chain got caught on the end of the bolt and bent it. Since then, I have been careful to not let the chains dangle near the foot and I have not had any problems.

There is a YouTube video comparing the https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhldPnuIE00 - Husky Brute SuperFoot and the Fastway Flip Foot .

I've got a big block of wood that's working just fine. Cheap and won't break.
