We are trying to grow blue berries here in eastern KS. The bushes grow good but we only get small berries. Was wondering if any one had any ideas on how to get bigger berries?

There are tons of different type of blueberry bushes. It might be the breed.

Also, blueberries need acidic soil, like azalea's and rhododendrons.  The thumb area and west side of Michigan have quite acidic soil and are well known for great blueberries.  Where we live we have glacial till and the soil is high in pH, blueberries do poorly here, can't pour enough acid on our sandy soil to make it worthwhile.

It also depends on the type of seed you are using.....

Some blueberries need cross pollination with a different variety to produce well.

We got much bigger blueberries after I built a bird-proof cage around the plants!

The High Bush Blueberry is our official state fruit!
