Hello all, I have been a guest reading about everyone's adventures and podmods, etc., so I thought it is about time I join in.

We are Jim and Kathy, ages 67 and 66, and have been retired since last August.  Our home is in Grass Valley, California, a small town about half way between Sacramento and Reno, NV.  We have owned several RV's over the years, so buying our R POD 180 about 1 month ago is the newest adventure.

We have been used to taking 1 or 2 week trips averaging less than 1 per year.  Usually that has been with our Northstar popup truck camper.  We usually don't find ourselves staying very long in any one campsite. That is a mind set we want to change.  We are planing a 2 week trip boon docking in Eastern Oregon to observe the total eclipse in August.

Eastern Oregon is the prettiest least crowded part of the West.  90% of the folks in Oregon live on the coast, and the eastern part of the state is thought of as "desert".  their loss.

We couldn't agree more.  East of the Sierras, and the Cascades are an amazing wonderland.  My Mom's side of the family had a big ranch outside of Prineville (East of Bend, OR) and have many childhood memory's there.   We hope to secure a spot near John Day and then explore all around the area.

Hello Mike,

Besides our home in Grass Valley, we also have an off grid cabin about 5 miles north of Alta, on Buckeye road.  Of course to drive to Alta from the cabin would be about 33 miles!  The Lowell Hill Fire in 2015 burned to about 1 mile from us.  Makes me really appreciate our state and federal firefighters.

We have not yet sleep our 1st night in our R Pod.

Jim
