We have looked at a few new ones with steep price tags.
Just looked at a used 15 178 hood river edition that they want 14,350 for. My questions are; how is the storage as far as clothes and bags? There is a little under the bed and I see you can access the underneath storage through the dinnette, that may work for the kids bags but what does everyone think? Also, the only issue I saw with this unit is a tree limb hit it towards the front (not on roof) and they did a small fiberglass repair. He said it didn't leak and I'm thinking that may be a in to get a good deal. Other issue is the radio didn't turn on, not a huge deal but I would like everything to function for that price! Thanks

Not sure what was wrong other than trying to post from my iPhone. The format on this forum does not carry the screen over as I type. But it could be that you answered my question... maybe I'm a little to blue collar for the rpod! Thanks for the positive reply on my first post in this forum.

You can look up the value of the used one with http://www.nadaguides.com/RVs - NADA Guides or http://www.rvtrader.com/research/tools/price-checker - RV Trader . That should give you an idea as to whether the used 178 is a good value or not. As for storage, we have the 179, so I can't help you there. I would be concerned with the damage. Was it repaired properly? As for the radio, it might be a fuse or it might be an unplugged wire or it might be a bad unit. Check into the cost of a replacement unit. If the seller can't get the current one to work, it may be a point of negotiation to adjust the price.

Wow...Hmm. Value is sooooo hard to do on the internet...so many variables. Storage pretty much sux on all small camp trailers, especially the RPOD. It's but just one of the trade-offs for going light. There are things that can be done to enhance storage. You won't really have a good idea what those are until you camp in it a few times. Good Luck!

Thank you, I'll check NADA guide. As far as the damage, I am waiting to here if the limb that hit it just cracked it or went through.

For $500-700 more you can buy a new one at Cheyenne Camper Sales in Walcott, Iowa. Look up R-pod in E-Bay, you will find them there. Used- and for that price, damaged, is a little high.

No, they are built in Goshen, Ind. Just as good, but not as high.

Iowa is a far drive but sounds like a good deal!
I am thinking if I can get into this used one for around 13k it might be a good deal.

Hood River edition trailers are built at the Oregon Plant and have a 3" riser at the axle, which puts the trailer higher. I bought the RP-180 2017 Green Model Rpod at Iowa in September,2016 for $14,800 new. Love it. Separate shower.

I like that model the best but with two kids it wouldn't work. Sounds like you got a hell of a deal!

Danielw1,
Welcome aboard. Point of reference, I bought a very slightly used 2015 178 (non HRE) for 12500, been awhile. I would work the negotiation, you're pretty close to new price at some dealers.

Danielw1, Where are you located? Have you looked online for other R-Pod dealers? If so, are there any others near you? You might be able to find a better deal.

I have looked at a local dealer and told them I was looking it a used one. They said their bottom dollar was 19,500 for a 178 HRE. Maybe I'll call around little. Maybe difference is of zip code? I noticed the list price on these is 24,500 at the dealer! Anyway, update on the used one.. seller will take 13k and I deal with the radio being broken and maybe pay to have a rv dealer do an inspection on the whole unit.

Rv inspection is 200 so we agreed on splitting it. Getting the trailer for 12,900 this week! I think that seems fair for a hood river edition considering the other used ones I've been seeing.

Great news. It sounds like a much more realistic price now.

Got the unit home today! Towed pretty nicely too although there is a few minor adjustments to do. I would post a picture but can't figure out how.

You can't post a picture directly anymore. You need to save it to a photo sharing site first. Go to the advanced editor (click on the icon above that looks like two boxes with an arrow pointing to the upper-right). From there, you will have more features. You will see an icon that looks like a picture of a tree. When you click on that, you will have the instructions on how to post a picture.
I miss being able to upload the pictures to the forum, but I can understand why the change was made.

This forum could use a new format. Check out f150forum.com, I really like the way that one is setup

I am sure that he price to have this forum is a factor. The f150forum may have some form of sponsorship that pays the bills. If a sponsor were to show up who would pay the bills to allow photo hosting again, then it might be possible to post them directly again. Until then, the workaround of using a photo sharing site is likely the best available option. However, I am not an administrator, so I am speculating. Confirmation as to whether my speculation is accurate or way off-base would have to come from an administrator.
