Flush out the water system on our new 179 preparing for a trip next weekend.  Filled the tank and drained it.  I noticed a dozen or so plastic shards (like from drilling holes or trimming the edges) on the ground under the drain.   Glad they came out but I wonder how many more are still in there and why there're in there to begin with.  Any chance they could be sucked up by the water pump and cause damage?  Is there a screen on the pick-up to prevent this?

My 2015 177 has a filter on the input / suction side of the water pump.  It was about half full of these similar plastic construction debris.  I emptied the filter and will check it yearly.

They are there from the manufacturing process. They are non-toxic. Your water pump is protected by a filter. Pod on.

Subzilla,

Had the same thing with my new (Febuary) 179 took more than one flush to get it all out.    Had a bad plastic taste to the water too. Even after a couple of fillings.  Luckily the two weeks I was in Florida i had a lot of access to city water.  I never got to flush it out after out trip to Fla. cause i had to winterize it to get back up north so that will wait till warmer weather.

I would pack some drinking water and a jug to get it from the campground till the tank has been used a few times.
