Snowing pretty good up here, getting about 2 inches and hour. They are predicting 18+

I just finished round 1 of snow blowing here - 2 hours of effort moving about 14 inches, so far, and the plow truck is going to bury the front again soon, and it looks like snow into tomorrow??? I'll have to hit it again around 7-8p tonight and hope for the best. The shop where I work was shutdown, so we knew yesterday we wouldn't have to work today. At least it's stopped snowing. 6am. Now, to deal with the embankment the plow truck left at the street. Snowblower can't move it. Have to go shovel it with a small transfer shovel, one chunk at a time. Just like trying to shovel wet heavy cement. Exercise!! Yay!!......

Been there, done that! It was bad enough when we lived in various places up north. It is just as bad here in NC when the plows do that as it is usually ice and wet, heavy snow mixed that then freezes into a nearly immovable block that I have to break up and move in small chunks. I have worn out two snow shovels here. Unfortunately, the only ones we can find now are plastic, not metal. They would be useless in breaking up ice.
Congratulations. We have a 30 year that I hope we can transform into a 20 year mortgage since we put extra on the principle every month. I need to check my amortization table to see if we are on track. What a great feeling that is John. I remember when we paid ours off back in 1990. I was 36 at the time, one month later I was diagnosed with testicular cancer and given a 40% chance of beating it. God has been good to us!!! Both my sons had to rub it in and beat dad at the mortgage game. My oldest paid his house off at the age of 34 and my youngest son beat us both, . . . . he was only 29 ! But he cheated in a sense, after getting out of the army he worked for a private contractor and worked in Afghanistan for a couple years. Made enough to pay cash for his place. However, it was pretty dangerous work and I would opt for the easy way and go the traditional route.

It's a great feeling for sure. Completed the final mortgage payment this afternoon on my lunch break. One years worth of payments all at once. I never thought about the end of the mortgage because it always seemed "out there" as far as time frames go. But 20 years now, and it's gone. I should say for the record it was my first and only house. It's likely I will never sell it. And it hasn't snowed again since last night and snow removal is over for now. Quite a few of my neighbors did NOT do a second cleaning last night, and they're paying the price right now! The snow has hardened and is crusty. The side streets are still hard pack snow and slush, but the main roads are clear to the asphalt. They only plowed 3/4 of the street, it's almost 4 feet of snow into the street and the same height. At the Kirkwood, CA, ski resort they're reporting 17"6" at the base and 19'2" at the summit. At Mammoth Mountain they're reporting 27'6" at the summit, about 3 hours south of us. And we're already into the spring melt. Now that's a little snow.🙃 We're prepping the Pod to see the desert wild flowers very soon. ------------- Never leave footprints behind. We still have a lot of snow around in yards and in the woods, most ponds still froze over......................but mud season is starting!!

Wow, Leo you are getting all the fun. We may have to pack the pod and ski's and get to your neck of the woods to enjoy the last snow of spring. You must not be in the panhandle. I was raised in TX, north TX, we used to say when I was a kid "the only thing between North TX and Canada is a single strand barb wire fence", we had miserable winters there:) In central TX, my youngest children were 13 the first time they saw snow, they had no idea what it was, funny.
