I just purchased an early 2017 (not blue) 178. I bought an rdome from the parts department. The first time I tried to put it on, the spline fell out of the track. From what I've read, Forest River changed the track size from 9mm to 14mm around 2011-2012. I definitely have the larger track. My dealer and Forest River are telling me I have the right rdome for my year and model and that the track just needs to be closed up a bit so the rdome's spline won't fall out.

Does anyone know if they put a bigger spline on the tent when the track sized changed from 9 to 14mm? Should I let them go ahead and close the track up or should I be asking them to send the right tent?

What the dealer and FR are telling you is correct. Take a pair of pliers, put some tape on the jaws, and go the length of the rail and close it a bit. It's just a bit of manufacturing tolerance stacking. The keder tape happens to be at the bottom of the allowance, and the opening in the rail happens to be at the top. Happens. Takes a couple minutes to fix.

EDIT: I promise you don't have a dome for the 9mm keder. They have been out of production for 5 years and are now scarce as hen's teeth.

I can't speak for the R-Dome, but the Pahaque products all have an option for 9 or 14mm when you order them.

Yes, this has come up a few times over the years. As furpod has said, no big deal, real easy fix.

Vise grips may work good, the point of travel of the jaw can be fixed.

The keder is aluminum so it's pretty flexible. Good Luck! Pod On! :-)
