Driving from NC to Couch's RV Nation today and receiving our 2017 179 tomorrow.  They have extremely good prices....nothing closer compares.  Been stalking the forum here already for lots of info and mods and such.  Can't wait to get my hands on it the goods!  Wife and I are happy.

Been a Boy Scout Leader since '81 and Boy Scout prior to that so I have tent camping pulsing in my veins.  Initially took the wife and kids on many weekend and longer camping trips in our early family years.  A few trips to some Carolina beach campgrounds and swatting mosquitoes convinced us to find something bigger to live in.  Found a used Coleman pop-up some 15 years ago and used the heck out of that.  Kids are in college now, wife and I are looking toward retirement so we've been looking for something newer and nicer than what we have.  First saw and liked the Trailmanor but it wasn't cheap.  Were vacationing in Colorado last August and saw a cute little travel trailer pull into a gas station.  Ventured over to check it out....hmmmmm...RPOD?  Never seen one.  Internet research convinced us this was the one.

Wife and I will still do some tent camping every once in a while, I hope, and I still sleep on the ground for Scout trips but the RPOD will make things tons of fun for our upcoming years.  Very excited!

Good Morning Subzilla and welcome to the forum. We picked up our 179 last August and we love it. We can't wait until spring! Congratulations!

Welcome Subzilla.  Ever since getting our 177 back in March of 2011 I haven't missed one time the wet canvas of tent camping, nor setting up or tearing down in the rain, sleet, snow.  The pod is cozy on the cold spring and fall nights and DRY inside.  We really enjoy ours and still give quite a few 'tours' as we are in campgrounds, rest stops and even gas stations when we travel.  Enjoy and welcome aboard.

You will really appreciate the rPod when the wind is blowing with rain / sleet in it, and you think back to how much fun that would have been in a tent or tent trailer.

Picked up the 179 yesterday, hit the road late and stopped halfway in Knoxville, TN (back to Charlotte this morning).   Had a few minor fixes at dealership... TV bracket was misaligned (wouldn't fold down completely) so they redrilled holes to fix.   And outdoor speaker not working (wrong connector).
Happy with the purchase....not much NOT to like about this thing!

Coming across the KY/TN mountains, we hit some minor showers and a nice coating of residual road salt is now on my new 179 😡.   I'm much upset and anal about having clean, rustfree vehicles. Any issues with pressure washing the exterior or underbody??   Any specific areas to pay attention to for cleaning?    Thanks for the advice!

Congrats!! We usually just use a regular hose and rinse ours regularly (especially when we are down on Cape Hatteras, with all the salt air/spray blowing around) I also use my Harley wax/polish on the outside. Heavy around the decals etc

Congratulations on your R-Pod 179.
I would avoid pressure washing. The force of the pressure washer could force water around seals. Use a low pressure hose. I have a brush on a pole through which water flows like this one fro https://www.walmart.com/ip/15111242?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&adid=22222222227009137980&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=40839211952&wl4=pla-69062004889&wl5=9009718&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=online&wl12=15111242&wl13=&veh=sem - Walmart . One could purchase a better one. The soft brush with low pressure water is good. Team it with a bucket for some car wash soap and you should be set.

I have always worried about the open frame in the rear. Should I block it off or is it better to let it breath?  I could spray undercote a distance in but that seems silly.  Anyone have a thought about that?

I would not want to block it unless I knew it would be sealed all the way. Otherwise, you could be blocking air circulation that would help evaporate moisture. I sprayed paint inside the opening of mine when I saw some rust developing there (after wire-brushing it). I think that the undercoat is probably a better move than blocking it off.
