Try Jetty Park. It is in port canaveral on the inlet and access to the beach.
It's about 2 miles north of cocoa beach. I have been camping there for years
You can book online

gregm: can you give me a small oversight on the campground; and specific lots/areas which might be better than others. Thanks, hogone

I usually try to get site 222 or near it. I recommend staying on the outer loop to the east of the camp store. Most of the sites in the middle don't have trees.
There is a fishing pier on the inlet and some decent restaurants nearby if you want to eat out. The Grill is where my wife likes to go for dinner or lunch.

Hogone,
not sure how close you want to be to Cocoa Beach but there is a nice county park east of Orlando. Moss Park is it's name. There are no pads but all the sights have water & electric. There is a dump station and the bath houses are clean and new with 2 lakes. If you stay there you are about 45 miles from CC Beach. It is also cheaper and quieter.

We don't camp with our cat but I never read the no alcohol part. I noticed it I just did not read it.
At Jetty Park you can have both except if you rented one of the cabins dogs are not allowed in them, but I think you don't need to worry about that. When are you coming down? Bike week is coming soon.

I do know where jetty park is, but never have been inside. hogone

I stayed at the Military Fam Camp at Patrick.  It was awesome.  I also liked the beaches down there as well.  Cocoa Beach was one of our most favorite vacations, in the history of vacations. lol

Military RV camps are for: " Active, National Guard, Reservists, Retired, 100% DAV. DoD Civilians." (from Desert Eagle RV Park on Nellis AFB). Ex military is not accurate. Someone who only served a 3 or 4 year enlistment and then got out would not be eligible. Nor would someone (truly ex) who was kicked out for bad conduct. Active duty has priority. I am a retiree. Someone who did not retire, but was a 100% disabled Veteran is eligible. Civilians working for the DoD are eligible.

None of the US Military Campgrounds would be a suitable location for a Pod gathering unless it were a gathering of eligible people who own R-Pods.

I would like to try cocoa beach too but I'm not sure if we could go there anytime soon. It's too far from home I always wanted far adventure with fellow rpoders like me.
