The dump valve on our black tank has become increasingly difficult to open and close. Goggling this topic I read that I should lube the steel rod with silicone once in awhile. I also read a post about putting veggie oil in the tanks to keep the valve lubed. Lubing the steel rod makes sense to me but I'm not sure about the veggy oil treatment. Any thoughts or suggestions you might have about maintaining the black/grey tank valves will be appreciated.

I'm not sure this will help with your particular RPOD but I spray the blade and seal area with silicone lub. I do this by spraying with the small straw-like tube back up into the black valve area with the valve open and closed. Work the vale a few times to spread the silicone. Also spray the steel handle shaft.

Looking at hack, almost seems you could drill and tap - put a grease zert in and use silicone grease.
