Thinking about a WDH. We have a Toyota FJ Cruiser, at present we only have a friction sway bar and have no issues with it what so ever. But hoping to do some traveling (finally) and was wondering if any FJ owners have done some mountain driving with only a sway bar and how did it work for you. Thanks.

I just answered this question one minute ago, based on my experience, in another thread.  Basically, my answer is I don't think I need it.  I have it now so I've tried it both ways.  It does level things out a bit, so it's of some benefit, but whether the cost to benefit ratio is worth it is another question, in my opinion.

Much more important is an auxiliary transmission cooler.  I went a long time without one, but these are cheap, easy, and lower the transmission fluid temp 30 to 50 degrees going over a mountain gap as we call them around here or pass, as they call them in the West.  I do the Smokies a lot and just got back from towing through the Rockies.  I'm really glad I finally installed one.

I really like my FJ.  Best, most fun vehicle I've ever had. Second was a '73 Bronco.

Thanks TT, already have the auxiliary tranny put on. So sounds like you think with  proper driving a WDH isn't really a "must" have while driving with an FJ.  And as you said.... nothing cooler than pulling a pod with an FJ.
