We just purchased a new to us 2016 R179. I am so happy; she is adorable. (Could anything as cute as this little trailer be anything but a she?) Neither my husband nor I have ever stayed in a camper before, never gone to a camp ground. We think we are going to use this little trailer primarily on some land on a lake we have in northern Minnesota, but reading thru some of the posts on this forum has gotten me excited to perhaps do some traveling with the Rpod also. We have already gotten some good ideas from the forum about ways to modify to improve her. The map on her side and some stickers in the outside storage tell us that this little trailer has traveled all the way to Key West and also to Wall Drug, in SD.

Congratulations! We picked up our 179 back in August and have had her out a few times. It is our first camper of any kind. We couldn't be happier. We consider her our vacation home on wheels! Enjoy and Happy Travels!

Picked up our first RV (Pod180) at beginning of November. I took my GoldenNoodle to the local state park for an overnighter on 11/18 before winterizing. Being a city dog she immediately fell in love with the forest, taking hikes, and chasing squirrels. I had so much fun watching her have the time of her life. She's still grinning and ready to go again as am I. Enjoy your Pod!

wow, my RP172 is MY first trailer also. I did have a pop up, but it's not even close. I have to wait till may 2017 before i can take her out on trip number 1. I guess we all get attracted by the same things.

IOWA, you will enjoy your 179 to be certain. We have thoroughly enjoyed our 177 since we purchased it in March 2011. We have given countless 'tours' to many curious onlookers at campgrounds, stores, rest stops, filling stations, or any other place we decide to stop for a spell. For us it was a move up from pop-ups for 29 years. We have gone to the Rockies 3x and Smokies once as well as numerous trips in the midwest, especially the U.P. of Michigan. AND to top this off, you will find a lot of great advice and wisdom and be garnered on this site, we have certainly benefited many times, you will also.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I feel like we just joined a wonderful new club. I suspect we will have to try our hand at traveling with our 179. Our pod was supposed to be a little snack shack, reading nook, a convenient place to pee when we come off the lake, and maybe an occasional place to sleep by the lake, but I am already wondering what life on the road would be like. We are thinking about taking her for a spin out to Mt. Rushmore next spring, before we take her to northern Minnesota, where she is supposed to reside.

Welcome. Lots of ways to use a camper. One advantage of a hard-sided camper (vs. a popup or tent) is they are much easier to use for touring.

Mount Rushmore is one stop we want to make. Yellowstone has been a long-term dream for us. I hope we can make that trip in 2018. Please take your 179 out for a spin. You may decide that having your little house trailing behind you is something that is fun, especially if it frees you up to visit places you might otherwise have skipped.
