my property has a big slant, (not level)...my question is - my trailer leans a lot I'm planning on raising my low side and use leveling jacks putting weight on the other side...should I raise the other side and use leveling jacks to keep the suspension and tires keeping the stress off...appreciate any advise... ------------- Xxxx7 |

We have camped in some pretty extreme conditions that include very uneven terrain. We only use the plastic lego blocks under the tires to bring our 177 to level. Only use your stabilizers for that purpose, to stabilize your pod after it is level side to side and fore to aft. Level right to left by driving on to leveling blocks on the low side. Never try to raise the pod with the stabilizers. That's their only purpose. Forest River doesn't want you to ever use a jack anywhere on the frame. As Jato said, and I'll go a little further, always chock your wheels before you disconnect from your tow vehicle. Remove the chocks only when you're hooked back up to the tow vehicle. Chock both wheels, front and back. Cheap insurance even if the ground seems level. TT ------------- 2010 176 FJ Cruiser |

Chock those wheels. I also have experienced some slippage in my driveway, which has some slope, but not much. The plastic chocks do not do very well. The flattest spot I had on my property required a 7" shim under one wheel to level. I spent $3.5K getting a spot graded and driveway rejiggered so as to provide more backing room. I hate backing on to shims; thinking about getting a hydraulic jack to lift axle.

Johnbryanpeters, One word: DONT! The axle is not made for lifting. You can damage it.
