Fellow Podders: Do any of you ever pull a small trailer attached to the receiver hitch on the rear of the pod. I am disabled and I have a Recumbent Tricycle that I would like to take camping. I could remove the spare tire carrier from the receiver hitch and purchase one of the aluminum platforms for the trike, but I am afraid that the weight of the platform and the weight of the trike would be too heavy for the receiver hitch on the r pod(the trike is quite heavy). If I could attach a small trailer that would hold my trike then the weight would not be solely on the r pod receiver. I would be pulling the trailer rather than having all of the weight on the r pod receiver hitch. It would be a small trailer, only about 3 feet long. Also, is it legal to pull a camper and then a trailer behind the camper? Is this a stupid idea, or what? I know it may be somewhat harder to maneuver. Any input will be greatly appreciated. |

I don't think it would be a good idea. I don't know if states allow someone with a passenger car license to drive a tandem trailer setup. You might better ask your department of motor vehicles whether it is legal to do so. Backing would be virtually impossible with tandem towing.
