This past weekend we went up to Staunton River State Park in Virginia on our first trip with the new R-pod.  Before we could get the pod leveled, there was a line waiting to see it.  We gave 6 tours and answered a lot of questions.  We were there for the CHAOS Star Party and the staff were all super nice and it was the cleanest park we've ever stayed at.  This one is on our list of places to go back to as often as we can.  Funny thing happened on the way home, there was a truck pulling a travel trailer and they were taking pictures of us going down the road!  Guess they're looking to trade up.

It was a lot of fun and we met a bunch of really nice folks.  If you ever happen to be where there is a Star Party going on (usually the new moon weekend) they have "Public Night" and anyone can come in and look at the night sky through some very nice telescopes and ask questions.  You wouldn't believe what you can see when there's no light pollution.

Very true.  Especially for the early-adopters, giving tours every trip.

I think we as owners ought to ask Warren Buffet to give us stipends for all the free tours we give of our pods.  We enjoy it, don't get me wrong, but not only have we given tours at the basic campground setting but also at rest stops, filling stations, grocery store parking lots, you name it.  A few years ago when we were escaping the tidal wave of rain at RMNP in Colorado we found ourselves at a rest area in Nebraska and gave 3 back to back to back tours.  A little over an hour later we were able to resume our trip eastward.  Great to hear you had a grand time!

Thanks, everybody.  We did talk about how nice it would be if FR had a referral program.  I know we sold two last weekend.  Funny thing was we started out looking for an old Casita but couldn't find any close by, so that's when we found the R-pods and I'm really glad we did.  There were 3 Casitas just down from us and while they are lightweight, I don't think we would have liked those as much as we do the R-pod.

Hi Donnie, I'm glad to hear you're loving your r-pod.  It's a bit off topic but what do you observe with?  We have an AP 130 EDFS on a Losmandy G-11 that we take on most of our remote camping trips.  To me camping and amateur astronomy are a natural match.

Sue and Mike,  wow... nice scope and mount!  We have a 12" Dobsonian with encoders that is  "push to" facilitated by Sky Safari on my iPad.  We have also just ordered an Explore Scientific APO to use on my Alt Az mount to use as a grab and go scope.  That will be our solar scope too for the upcoming Total Solar Eclipse in August 2017.

Clear skies!

Hello Donnie, Tina, Sue and Mike. It's too bad we're far apart, we could do an astronomy pod-a-thon! Telescopes look great next to Rpods don't they?
