Ordered our 180 from couchs in September and knew it would take a bit to get it( we were told end of October ) this is worse than the last 2 weeks before Christmas when I was a kid We have bought tons of supplies and acccesories, I rewired the truck for the 7 way plug. Electrician is coming next week to put in the 30amp service for drive way camping...... To top it off the weather has been unseasonably nice......ugggggghhhhhhh

That would be so cool. We plan to drive up and stay at motel first night. Next day go to Couch to inspect, walk-thru, etc. That night want to stay in local campground to uncover any issues/questions. Then next day will either go back to Couch with issues or head on back. So if they (ever) do arrive at same time we may indeed cross paths

Me too!!!! Our RP-179 will be delivered Nov 3rd!! The truck is ready and I'm bouncing off the walls.
I will follow your example and go shopping for camping gear. But I know that will only make me more impatient.

Get to know it well as you will be expected to give tours of your 180. Cannot tell you how many tours we have given with our 177 since we picked it up in March 2011 ! Isn't it great to be excited about "the wait?" Even though ours is already 'winterized' we may take it out in November or December for a weekend for something fun to do. Of course we will be boondocking as all the campgrounds in Northern Michigan will be closed for the season.

[/QUOTE]i was told they ran the 179 first.
So sorry, I misspoke. We will be able to Pick it Up on Nov 3rd. It's in Iowa and we are in NM.
Actually, it was the r-pod forum that got us from mulling to doing. We got a price locally and we were just mulling when I saw on the Forum someone mentioned looking at Ebay for a better price. That Ebay dealer offered (almost) the same R-pod for $3,000 less. We signed and now November can not get here fast enough.
I have planned our first two trips and I am currently internet shopping.

Question: You had an electrician install 30 AMP? Did not think of that. Can't you just use a 30AMP adapter if not using AC, Fridge, etc (like for cleaning, etc)?

The answer is yes as long as you don't use more than 15A. That means no AC. The microwave, electric water heater, or plugin electric space heater are usually OK if used by themselves. Converter, lights, fridge, radio, vacuum cleaner are all fine even in combination on a 15A circuit. The dedicated 30A circuit is just so much handier.

Thanks for the info. Camping in my driveway would like be frowned upon by my HOA. But connecting to 15AMP to get fridge cooling down and for cleaning is needed. If I find I need the A/C (for prepping, cleaning, etc), then guess I'll need the 30AMP as well. Congrats to Blimey - we've both been waiting for seemingly forever.

Installing 30 amp service really wasn't expensive and we had another project scheduled also. I figured since we will own this camper or others for years it would be useful to have.

We got it and its all set up in the driveway.Doing our first driveway camp tonight. Got to meet Bamapod and see their POD too!!!! We were sitting next to each other during the walk through! Photobucket is down so I can't post pics.
Towed great behind the Dakota.
Only issue so far is the hot water in the kitchen sink and the outside shower is hooked up to the cold side and vice versa with the cold....I just swapped the handle indicators(bathroom sink and shower were correct)Took me a few minutes to figure out why I wasn't getting hot water

If it isn't too difficult to get to the fittings, you can simply unscrew them from the kitchen sink faucet and from the shower and reverse them. For the outside shower, I added 90 degree elbows for the shower as the lines were just taken up and bent to connect. When I removed the panel to look, I saw evidence of leakage. Since I was going to take it apart anyway, I thought I would fix it right.

They look nice. I like the new spoiler. I'm not so sure about the awning since it does not look like it would keep much rain away from the door.
Here's a tip: Take some rubber door edging and put it along the bottom of the door. A piece about 2 or 3 inches long will suffice. Use some silicone to glue it in place. Place it so that it will protect the door edge and fender if the door is opened too wide. It looks like there is still no stop to prevent the door from hitting the fender. This will address that so the fender does not get scratched up by the metal door edge.

I signed on my 172 this morning, woo hoo. Was cool seeing all the new pods at the dealer, they got in a dozen new units. I'm garaging mine at the dealer this winter and they are gonna go thru the whole thing and make sure everything works properly. I will pick it up in the spring. Cant wait for may.

There is a rubber bumper on the bottom of the door that hits the fender if it opens to far.I would have put it a bit lower but it seems to work ok.

Congrats on all the new deliveries. We'll have to open a maternity ward around here.
One positive on the built-in awning, it should be much easier to open it up on a rainy day so the side window can be opened up all the way for ventilation.

Great! I could not see that in the picture. It was one thing I suggested to my dealer. Forest River sent a replacement fender which was installed on mine because the original one was scratched from people opening the door too wide, presumably while it was being shown at the dealer's. I am glad Forest River saw that a stop was needed. My suggested fix has been rendered moot.
