Hey there. New here and researching for hopeful rpod purchase. In I'm reading a q82g thread from 2012 someone recommended getting "Axle risers" installed on the trailer because they "bottomed out" a couple times while traveling.

Can you explain to me if axle risers are a good or necessary mod and what bottom out means?

Depends on what year. Earlier R-Pods were lower to the ground. In 2015, the earlier 2016 R-Pod models were built with axle risers (blocks used to add space between the axle and the frame). Now, a different axle is used that accomplishes almost the same purpose without the need for riser blocks. I say almost because some have said that the risers added an additional inch or two over what the new axle adds.

Bottoming out means that part of the R-Pod (usually the rear stabilizers) hits the ground during travel, most often when hills or steep driveways are in the route. The risers can help minimize the risk of bottoming out. The newer, higher axle should also help. I have not seen the two side-by-side to compare though.

Thank you for the great info. We are looking at new models but it sounds like a gently used 2015 may be worth a look

Hi all, new to the forum.  Just got a used 2010 171 and cannot wait to take it out.  It does not have the axle risers installed and I would love to get some.  Does anyone know where to buy them from?  The maintenance manual link dates back to 2010 so wondering if I can still get them direct for FR or if I need to look elsewhere?

Thanks!
